Long Island, New York 1992

Arguably,
one of the best amateur shot shows of the Revenge tour and certainly one
of the first stops after the Detroit pro-shot.
Background
This is the
ninth show of the 55-date Revenge arena tour. This is also the last known
performance of Christine Sixteen on the tour as well.
Video
Specifics
Tripod shot
from the Gene side of the stage. Lots of great close-ups but also a few empty
spots where the filmer seems to fall asleep and let the band members stray thus
leaving the viewer looking at an empty stage.
In case you
care, Gene is wearing his “ Fuck Censorship ’’ shirt. Paul is wearing a skull
and cross bones shirt with a vest. Bruce is wearing a black and white tie dyed
long sleeve shirt.
The Show
Deuce-
the intro part of this song has more energy then all the previous song
combined. All the members get screen time although Gene doesn’t get as much as
one would think, considering he is singing.
I Just
Wanna- well shot and a faithful version.
Unholy-
something gets thrown near Gene (perhaps a popcorn bag ?), which brings a
smirk to his face. Gene vocals are better then most versions I’ve heard. During
the guitar solo, all three members are in the frame, which is nice to see.
Parasite- During the intro (“ how many have Alive ? ’’), Paul seems
to put chap stick on his lips. Gene and Paul genuinely seem to be having fun on
stage with lots of horsing around by both during this song.
Heaven’s
on Fire- As Paul begins the song (Whoo, whooo), he seems surprised at the
amount of echo. The flamethrowers at the beginning of the song set fire to a
speaker column. The fire fizzles out quickly. A decent version but the camera
wanders towards the end of the song.
Christine Sixteen- a solid little version with Gene and Paul sharing a
microphone for the first part of the song.
Domino- shaky camera work for the first portion of the song. Gene forgets the lyrics (sort of). He also says
“ Bruce
Kulick ’’, a verse before the solo. It ends with poet Gene saying “ the girl
with the big fat tits bends over…’’.
Watchin’
You- as solid a version as one would expect from this lineup.
Hotter
Then Hell- a straight forward playing that segues into…
Firehouse- see the above comments. Paul seems more energetic during this
song then the previous one. Bruce gets probably more screen time then he
deserved during this song. Gene blows 1 fireball at the end.
I Want
You- Paul is impressed with the crowd intro and says little to encourage
them. A standard playing complete with Singer’s drum solo, Bruce’s guitar solo
and Paul’s vocal flexing.
Forever-
a faithful version although there is no spotlight on Paul for the first half
of the song.
War
Machine- Gene is having the spotlight problem as well. The Statue of Liberty
face crumbling is filmed ok.
Rock and Roll All Nite- during Singers’ drum intro to the song, Gene says “ you gotta sing along Long
Island ’’. Paul actually lies on stage during the first verse of the stage. Gene gets most of the screen time outside of Bruce’s solo. At one point, Gene makes a bowing motion to a crowd member. Why ?
Lick It
Up-a straight forward playing with Paul getting most of the screen time.
Prior to Bruce’s solo, Gene goes down on one knee to pick up a black bra that is
thrown on stage.
Take It
Off- for the first half of the song, Gene tries to catch underwear in his
mouth thrown at him from the audience. He failed both times. Paul vocals aren’t
too great (for some reason he is looking to his left offstage constantly during
the song). Four girls come on stage (2 brunettes, 1 black haired girl and 1
blonde) to flaunt their assets during the breakdown part of the song.. One of
the brunettes comes close to spilling out of her top.
Cold
Gin- prior to the song, Eric and Paul make barking noises for some reason.
Gene gets no screen time for the first part of song. Gene and Paul horse around
again by dangling their legs (hard to explain exactly what this means). Gene and
Bruce do a little square dance at the end of the song. All in all, an
entertaining version.
Tears
Are Falling- a well played version although the camerawork is a little lazy.
Detroit
Rock City- Singer’s drumming makes most versions of this song worth
listening to and this is no different. The song ends with the Statue of Liberty
giving the finger.
Shout It
Out Loud- Paul’s cracked mirror guitar make its first appearance of the
night. Nothing really separates this version from any other one you’ve probably
heard.
God Gave
Rock and Roll to You II- an average version, the vocal tradeoffs work a
little better then some.
Love
Gun- see the Watchin’ You comments.
Star
Spangled Banner- too much camera movement and too many close-ups.
While I like the Oakland show from this tour a little more but this show still gets a strong recommend from me. A welcome addition to any video collection. Overall, an 8 out of 10.
