Introduction

A great sounding show. Too bad this wasn’t Alive III.

Background

The fourth show of the 55-date Revenge tour.

Audio Specifics

Not soundboard quality but not far from it. Everything is nice and heavy, giving the listen a sort of “ in your face ’’ feel to the show. The only problem is that the vocals are a bit buried, which makes it hard to hear the vocals at times during some songs.

The Show

Creatures of the Night- a solid opener although Paul’s vocals are a bit buried in the mix.

Deuce- one of the best versions I’ve heard in a while. Gene even says a little something in French toward the end of the song.

I Just Wanna- Paul defends his lack of French by saying “ How you doin’ Montreal ? Our as they say up here ca va ? That’s about all the French I know and it always gets me in trouble ’’… “ they told us this afternoon that up in Canada our album is almost platinum. ’’. On a related, note, platinum in Canada is 100,000 album sold. A better version then most due to the sound of the drums and guitar.

Unholy- not the worst version of this song, I’ve ever heard. Gene’s vocals are slightly buried.

Parasite- “ we got a lot of stuff to play for you tonight. We gotta lotta new stuff, we got old stuff. You want to hear old stuff doncha ? ’’. A beauty version with good clean vocals by Gene.

Heaven’s on Fire- “ I see all these rose tattoos. Cool shit. What kind of tattoo do you have ? I’ll give you a tattoo ! ’’. As Paul does his first “ whooo’’, he says “ I think I need a drink. ’’. A good version instrumentally but Paul’s vocals are hard to hear.

Christine Sixteen- decent but the vocals could have been more upfront.

Domino- see the above comments.

Watchin’ You- much like Cold Gin, this song is nearly impossible to sound bad.

Hotter Then Hell- a faithful playing of the title track from the album of the same name.

Firehouse- According to Kiss Alive Forever, at the end of the song when Gene threw his sword down after the fire breathing routine, it bounced off the square block and bounced into the barricade below.

I Want You- a rather standard version with the audience intro,, Eric’s drum solo and Paul’s vocal flexing.

War Machine- a nice version with good vocals by Gene.

Rock and Roll All Nite- this moldy oldie gets a faithful playing.

Lick It Up- a straight forward version although the backing vocals are absent for the first part of the song.

Take It Off- “ if looking at naked women is evil then I am the devil ’’ says Paul as he introduces this Revenge tune. Always an entertaining song with Paul making this comment during the breakdown part of the song “ maybe we want Gene to take off his pants ’’. As the strippers, presumably, go off stage, Paul jokes by saying “ do you believe that’s a guy ? Just kidding ’’.

Cold Gin- a very well played version with clear vocals by Gene.

Tears Are Falling- again, good instrumentally (especially the drums) but the vocals aren’t so hot.

I Love It Loud- you can’t go wrong with this version. The drums are upfront and Gene’s vocals are enthusiastic.

Detroit Rock City- a standard Singer version, which is better then most other versions by the other drummers.

Shout It Out Loud- “ we come to Canada, there is two places that we always play. One starts with a T and we won’t talk about it (boos by the audience). He other one is the big M ’’.

God Gave Rock and Roll to You II- a surprisingly decent version although clearer vocals would of helped greatly.

Love Gun- “ we’re gonna shoot you down ’’. Not as pedestrian as one might think. Nice vocals and drumming.

Star Spangled Banner- not much to say here except lots of pyro.

Overall

One of the better quality shows from the Revenge tour and well worth tracking down. Trust me, you’ll thank me later. Overall, a 9 out of 10
